Fitness Transformation Photos Motivate Urbandale Fitness Student

I guess my journey with Farrell’s started when I was going through a divorce — I just didn’t know it yet. I was looking for something that would help me get my spark back. I wasn’t sure just how to do that, but I thought if I started to change how I looked on the outside, maybe just maybe some of it would trickle down and change how I felt on the inside. To be perfectly honest, I was already working out and had just completed a 5k. I thought I was doing pretty well and in pretty decent shape. I was not concerned about the prize because I didn’t honestly think I would even be in the running to become the winner. My main motivation was to make some new friends.
Through my 10 weeks there were ups and downs. My dog was very confused as to why I was waking her up so early in the morning, and so was I. I also became aware of muscles that I wished I did not have — ignorance is bliss. I struggled a lot with my nutrition and making proper food choices. I also struggled with attendance. I felt sad and guilty that I was not making the most of this opportunity, but told myself it was good that I had tried something new and got myself out there.
That is what I thought until the Biggest Winner Ceremony when I received my before and after pictures. The transformation was amazing. I thought that if I could make that kind of progress with mediocre effort, imagine the progress I could make if I gave it my all? Also, I felt myself looking forward to seeing the friendly faces in the Farrell’s gym, that even on the first day, called me by name. So, I signed up for FIT on a month to month plan. Still I struggled with my commitment to the program and only made it there three days out of the first month of my enrollment.
Our head coach sent out an email for the FIT challenge. This was going to be a team challenge which really appealed to me. I have a hard time doing things for myself, but when I know that someone else is relying on me, I can reach deeper for strength and motivation. I procrastinated due to my fear of commitment, but finally signed up at the last minute. Farrell’s and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the way I feel after a great workout, I love the changes that are taking place in my body, I love the confidence that I feel when I walk down the street, and I love the new friends that I have made. I do, however, hate jumping jacks!
I just turned 30 years old and look better than I have ever looked. I am excited to continue my journey with Farrells and continue to build strength both inside and out.
