Bellevue Nebraska Gym Leads Patty to Fitness and Running

I’m #651 and the girl next to me #654 Ely, she is also a Farrell’s member. She was the one that inspired me to participate.

For years I struggled with my weight.  I was always 15 to 20 lbs overweight and my idea of weight loss was starving.  I tried all the silly diets that guarantee you weight loss.  Sure, I would lose the weight but several months down the road it would come right back.  When I got married in 1995, of course once again I did the crash diet and lost 20 lbs in 1 month because I was going to be thin for my wedding.

To make a long story short by the year 2000 i had gained 105 lbs.  I totally gave up on my self and just didn’t care.  My clothing size was 20W in pants and 2X in shirts.  I was lost!  On March 29, 2007, I decided again to do another diet.  I wont say the name, but it was shakes, soups, bars, and 1 meal of your own.  I was determined to be thin for my step son’s wedding — no one was going to see Patty fat. I had reached my goal by October 31, 2007 — thank God — because the wedding was just around the corner in November!  I went from a size 20W to a size 4, from 220 lbs to 115 lbs.  No one from the diet place ever checked up on me.  The only thing I ever received was a thank you e mail every time I placed an order.  My husband was so upset with that diet that he called and told them of my weight loss success and how no one ever cared to check up on me and see how I was doing or if I needed support. Needless to say, they didn’t give a rat’s behind.

Anyway, I have kept my weight off but never exercised — once again my idea of staying thing was starving.  Last year my husband and I purchased bikes and we started bike riding.  We would ride 4 to 5 times per week, but with the cold weather just around the corner, I thought what was I going to do to stay fit?  In July 2011, I kept hearing on the radio of Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping, so I went on line and read up on it.  I thought, ‘OMG can I do this? Sure, I ride my bike I’m in good shape (boy, was that a joke!).’

On Sept 10, 2011 I started the 10 week challenge.  After my first week I thought “What did I get myself in to?”  The first couple of weeks I had never been so sore and tired in my life.  I’m sure my body was like “what is going on”?  In a few weeks, I started to see results.  I was feeling better.  I felt strong!  It was like a new me!

At the end of my 10 week challenge, I had lost 8 1/2 lbs, my body fat went from 28% to 22%, lost 4 inches (waist & thighs) and my running time improved by 2 1/2 minutes.  Wow, who would have ever thought I could run?  I love Farrell’s!   I have not missed a class, and I enjoy every minute of it.  I have met some wonderful people who inspire me.  My head coach, Heather — she always keeps on eye on us and makes sure that we are using the proper form, and she always sends inspiring e mails and stays after class to talk to us. I had no idea how to read a food label or how many grams of carbs and protein I should have each day.
I don’t know where I would be without Farrell’s.  It’s my home away from home.  Ever since Farrell’s came in to my life I cannot see my self doing anything else.  Taking the 10 week challenge was the best decision I have ever made. I feel good about myself, have more confidence, I’m healthy and guess what?  I just ran my very 1st 5K on Dec 11, 2011 — the EGG NOG 5K JOG!  I came in second for women in my age group.  I couldn’t run a block before I joined Farrell’s.

What could be so important that you cannot take 45 minutes of your day to improve your health?  This is what I tell people at work who can’t believe that I go to Farrell’s 6 times a week.

THANKS FARRELL’S!!!! YOU’VE CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!
