Grimes Fitness Contest Winner Sheds Anxiety
Posted by lifelevel10
Hi Nicole,
With all the craziness on Saturday at the Barnstormers game I didn’t get a chance to properly thank you.
Thank You so much for everything. I don’t know where to start. Thank You for providing an awesome experience and an incredible facility to accomplish my goals (which have now been readjusted). There is a level of energy and excitement at the gym that is palpable and it all starts with you. I can’t imagine there is a better manager, cheerleader and positive influence at any gym anywhere. Thank You for pairing me up with Cristal and Becky. I know I had the best coaches. They were always there for me and our team with encouragement, advice and motivation. There were times when I thought I couldn’t throw another punch or do another rep and they would push me past what I thought was impossible. The led by example, motivated me to accomplish my goals and believed in me more than I probably believed in myself.
As we were talking before we went on the field, I told you the reason I did this was because I felt like I was dying and that’s not an exaggeration. With all the stress, anxiety that I felt I would literally be sitting thinking I was dying. There were times I could hardly catch my breath. There were even times during the first couple weeks of class that I thought “God please don’t let me fall over with a heart attack.” But being a person of strong faith, I know God guided me in the direction I needed to go. He gave me the strength and perseverance to push on. I can now say I feel like living! The anxiety is gone, the stress (other than the stress of two little boys) is gone and I have a whole new outlook on life.
Speaking of my boys, my greatest accomplishment throughout all of this has been the positive influence I, and my Wife, have given them. Lisa and I have made a commitment to ourselves, to each other and to our boys to change our lifestyle. I can’t begin to tell you the feelings I get when our 5 year old Charlie refuses chips for dinner and says “No, I want vegetables because they’re healthy”. Or when our 2 year old Chase watches me doing push-ups and says “Daddy, watch me do put-ups“. It’s priceless.
Again, Nicole, THANK YOU for everything. At the risk of sounding cliché, I have lost a lot of myself but found myself in the end. I look forward to continuing on at Farrell’s and what I can accomplish next.
