Cedar Rapids Kickboxing Student Says Farrell’s, Farrell’s, Farrell’s!

Here’s a great letter from Carrie Reilly, a $1000 winner from the Boyson Rd location in Cedar Rapids, IA:
“Farrell’s, Farrell’s, Farrell’s!” That’s all I had been hearing about from my friends. I would say to them, “Good for you, that’s great!” I was thinking, Six days a week of working out, restrictive eating, and no adult beverages? There’s no way I could do something like that.
Seeing how they had changed after their first ten weeks made me really start to take notice. I had tried weight loss and exercise programs in the past, only losing the weight temporarily. The Farrell’s program sounded tough, but I signed up to prove to myself that I could do it.
I was scared and nervous when I walked into the gym for orientation. The testing went okay, but I was disappointed with myself for slipping into a lower physical state. My first day of kickboxing was intimidating, to say the least; I worked out with a guy who could almost kick the bag over. I’ll keep up with him, I thought, but by the end of class I was in pain. I went home and cried, wondering what I had gotten myself into. For nearly two weeks I kept saying to myself, “I can do this,” but sometimes I still cried.
At 5 Week Testing, I did not get the exact results I wanted. I had lost 4.6 pounds and 10 inches from my body, but I wanted more. I had worked so hard in class and followed the nutrition plan so closely; I thought I had been giving Level 10 effort, but it was clearly time to step it up. Quitting was not an option. I had something to prove to myself. I don’t think I have ever pushed myself so hard, both physically and mentally, as I did in the following five weeks!
When it came time for final testing, I was nervous. The mile run was what I dreaded the most, but I cut my time by three minutes, dropping it from 12:37 to 9:38 (under my 10-minute goal!). Since then, I have run a 5k race, something I never thought I would be able to do! I cut 13 pounds and 13.5 inches from my body. I am still so proud of myself for my results and reaching my goals. I could not have done it without support from my family and the great new friends I made throughout my first ten weeks. The instructors were great and pushed me beyond my boundaries! When I was announced as the $1,000 winner at the awards ceremony, I was in total shock and disbelief. I thought to myself, I did it!
Since joining Farrell’s nearly 6 months ago, I’ve dropped 25 pounds and lost 24.75 inches. This isn’t a temporary change–not for me. This is a lifestyle change, and now all I talk about is “Farrell’s, Farrell’s, Farrell’s!” I am proud to have it as part of my life, which I’m now living at Level 10!
