Farrell’s Fitness Program Has Given Me Pride in Myself
I joined Farrell’s on my birthday in October 2013 and what an amazing journey it has been. Before I joined Farrell’s, I was in a car accident that left me in so much pain that I basically did nothing. I would go to work and struggle with just sitting in the chair at my computer. Walking up and down stairs was a nightmare, and I would be out of breath after the third step. When it was lunchtime, I would look forward to lying down in my car to relieve some of the pain in my back; and when my work day was finished, I would look forward to going home and taking pain medication and going to bed. On the weekends, I would go to the movies and my exercise consisted of my hand going into the bucket of extra butter popcorn and walking back to the concession stand for a refill. That was my life.
When I saw the signs to join Farrell’s 10-Week Challenge in Denver, I thought I can do anything for 10 weeks. And my life definitely needed to change! I talked to Dan Dorenkamp, the owner, about the program and did a free trial class to see if I wanted to join. After the trial class, I was convinced that I could never do the 10-Week Challenge. I thought I would have to be physically fit to join and that was definitely not me. Dan didn’t quit on me though, and kept calling me until I finally joined.
Once I joined, I met the most amazing people you could ever imagine. Scott W. and Melanie H. were my instructors that I had most of the time. They were always there to support me and encourage me to continue and never quit; words can never thank them enough for all of their support. Also, my fellow FXB members, Kim W. and Karen L., were my daily inspiration. Watching them kick butt out there; I just wanted to be as strong as they were. They always gave me words of encouragement, and I am so grateful for them each and every day.
I have been at Farrell’s for 7 months now and oh, how things have changed. I have no trouble getting up and down and conquering the challenging kickboxing workouts. I recently have been able to do burpees in class, and it actually made me cry because I never thought I would be able to do them.
Most importantly, I have my life back. I run up the stairs at work and at home. I have more energy than I ever imagined. Recently, I rode my bike 28.2 miles, went on a 6 mile mountain hike, and a casual 5 mile walk. I look forward to playing racquet ball on the weekends and have started to learn Zumba. I am enjoying much more quality time with my kids also. I can sit all day at my computer because my back is finally strong enough to support me.
My stats show an amazing transformation as well. I have lost 41 pounds and 10% body fat. I have lost 12 inches from my waist and 9 inches from my hips. I’m loving my new life.
So what has Farrell’s given me? Farrell’s has given me pride in myself that I have not had for a very long time. I believe in myself again and I will live my life to the fullest. So thank you to everyone at Farrell’s for helping me to get my life back, I love you all!
