Health And Fun With Farrell’s!

We recently caught up with one of our FIT members, Mandi A., from Urbandale, Iowa to ask her a few questions about the program and hear about her transformation so far. Check out her incredible story!

What was your reason for joining Farrell’s?

I started this journey to show my daughters that this could be done in a healthy way and be fun.

What changes have you seen?

Just a few months before I decided to start Farrell’s one of my daughters was diagnosed with anorexia. I have learned a lot going through that with her and have developed a good understanding of what an eating disorder, any eating disorder, can do to you mentally, physically, and emotionally. Part way through her treatment I came to the realization that I too have an eating disorder. I am a recovering foodaholic and binge eater. I joined Farrell’s to show my girls this could be done in a healthy way and fun a way, but I also did it get into better shape and to hopefully give me another outlet instead of eating. Little did I know how much this program and my “cheerleaders” would change my life. Through this program I found myself and a strength and determination I never had before. During my year my little brother faced two separate hospitalizations for a serious health problem: one about halfway through my year and the second two weeks before I finished. Instead of turning to what was my normal stress relief, binge eating everything in the house and then going shopping for more, I turned to working out to deal with my stress and frustration. Not to say I was perfect because I did eat some junk, but not anywhere close to the magnitude it would have been before because I recognized what I was doing and was able to stop myself.

What do you think about the Farrell’s Program?

I will definitely agree this is a great workout/nutrition program (as my sore muscles after bands and my red face and sweat soaked clothes after kickboxing will testify), but it is so much more than that for me; it’s self-confidence, strength and AWESOME STRESS RELIEF!!! It’s probably saved my life, or at the very least my sanity. There’s just something about beating the crap out of the bag and leaving it all on the gym floor.

What have been some memorable moments so far with FXB?

Laura L. commenting in kickboxing class saying “Mandi’s working hard enough for all of you!” No pressure to push myself harder there, NOT; Sandy S. calling me the incredible shrinking woman; the incredible support network and friendships I have built with my Farrell’s family; fitting in an auditorium seat and having room to spare; complete strangers that work in my building commenting on my progress; working out wearing a boot for four weeks; coaching my teams and watching their successes; motivating more people than I am sure I even know about; setting goals and kicking them to the curb.

Why Should Someone Else Do FXB?

This is truly an amazing, life changing program and group of people!!
