Farrell’s Is A No-Brainer!

I have literally been overweight since the day I was born. My weigh-in at birth just happened to be nine pounds and some change. I was a chubby toddler, then a really “round” elementary school kid, and as a high school student, things remained the same. I played sports and tried to take care of myself, but I figured I was who I was. I seemed to always struggle to diet, and although I forced myself to exercise I could not lose weight although I desperately wanted to.

I got married , had three kids, and I just learned to live with being overweight. My weight had stayed basically the same since high school so I just figured it wasn’t going to change. Then I hit my 30-something birthday, and it did start to change. I found that I started gaining weight for no real reason. I tried to cut back on calories and I ran a little for exercise. These changes failed to make a difference in my weight and I became discouraged. The turning point came in the fall of 2012 when I stepped on the scale and was shocked to see my weight mirrored my weigh in at the 9th month of my pregnancy. I finally just gave up. I’d struggled with my weight my whole life. I was sick of it.  I resigned myself to just stop stressing about it and to let myself go.

A funny thing happened that same day that I had made that decision to throw in the towel. After making peace with being overweight, I sat down to check my email and had a message from Groupon. Inside I found a half-off deal for Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping’s ten week session. I felt like this was no coincidence. It was as if this email was  addressed specifically to me. I’d had friends who had some success with FXB, but hadn’t actually considered it for myself until that very moment. I knew it was what I needed to do. I really felt like I owed it to myself to try one more time. In all honesty, I really never thought I’d be able to stick with it, much less have a lot of success. I was just planning on trying it out and crossing it off the list as another failed weight-loss attempt. But at least I would try one last time.

Once I began my FXB ten week session I discovered  I really liked it! My manager, Lisa, was pretty cool, and funny, and gave a good motivational speech or two. The other new 10-weekers in my session seemed just like me. The FIT members and coaches were motivating and  cheering us on. I in turn got motivated, and my competitive side started coming out. I suddenly wanted to not just finish the 10 weeks, but to really ROCK my 10 weeks. On that first testing day, I did 7 push ups on my toes before collapsing. And I thought to myself, “Why did I do so many? I’ll NEVER be able to do 7 push ups again!” I was determined to beat that number however. I showed up every single day of my 10 weeks and hit my Level 10 at every class. I NAILED the nutrition like I never imagined I would be able to. All the motivation, encouragement and support pulled me through my 10 weeks, and I loved every minute of it. At my 10-week testing, I loved my results, including my increased number of 35 push ups.

Staying on with Farrells’s and becoming a FIT member was a no-brainer. I also signed up for the 10K 1-year Challenge for the extra motivation. I continued to attend classes daily and continued to see results. My noticeable  results renewed my motivation to continue the nutrition plan, which led to even greater results. I transformed not only my body but I also transformed the way I view food and exercise. Inches have fallen off and my strength has greatly increased. Those 7 push ups from my ten week testing have now become 51. After nearly two years of living life the FXB way, I don’t think I could ever go back to my pre-Farrell’s self. For the first time in my life, I feel like I really am fit! I’ve still got work to do, but I’m so encouraged by how far I’ve come.

The most rewarding part of my Farrell’s experience is that I now have the honor of coaching  the new 10-weekers just starting on their  journey. What a great experience it has been guiding 10-weekers down the very same path that I have been. Watching their Farrell’s stories begin to unfold and seeing their results and transformations is awesome. I can’t wait to see if their FXB experience will have as much of an impact on their lives as mine had on me! It truly has been life changing, and I know now from my own experience that ANYONE can do it!
