Farrell’s Nutrition Goals Boosted with Max Muscle!

Today’s Transformation Thursday post is a double-header! We want to introduce you to Amber and Brooke, two FXB members and finalists in the Max Muscle MaxFormation 2014 national contest!

Meet Amber

My fitness and health drive came from my mom, Brenda H. She started Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping in Cedar Falls, IA and always talked about how much fun it was and how great of a workout she got from it. I remember I was extremely nervous, thinking I wouldn’t be able to do it or keep up with everyone. I tried to eat healthy on my own and run outside, but I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. I finally decided to join Farrell’s at the Johnston, IA location in the summer of 2013. I loved it right away and absolutely adored the feeling of genuine support and motivation coming from all the instructors and fellow members.

After my 10 weeks were completed I knew I too wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, so I became a coach and shortly after, started teaching bands. I was excited with my 10 weeks results, but still needed more. I knew I needed to hit my nutrition hard and get expert advice. I had heard about Max Muscle and their personalized nutrition plans so I figured I would give it a try.

I heard great things about Max Muscle and how they worked together with Farrell’s. I am so ecstatic with my results it still feels surreal. I love Max Muscle because they are certified nutritionists and experts in their field. They made me feel important and I could tell they actually cared what I had to say. They take the results extremely personally and truly want you to succeed.

The personalized nutrition plan consisted of getting my body fat checked every two weeks with calipers so it was more accurate than a handheld machine. Joey, the owner of the Des Moines Max Muscle and my personal Certified Nutritionist would track my progress in their database. I was able to see the charts and actually see how much muscle vs. fat I had on my body. If I ever started to plateau he would change the nutrition plan so my body would lose more fat and keep the muscle. He was truly great to work with and extremely knowledgeable. I loved going and getting my body fat checked every two weeks because the numbers and the great support there kept me motivated. I wanted to keep reaching for higher goals I would set for myself.

With my personalized nutrition plan and working out at Farrell’s I got results I only dreamed about! I love Farrell’s because they are experts in the fitness category with an emphasis on nutrition that other gyms don’t have. It’s a caring environment and they are always there to help correct or answer any questions I had. The two combined is the best thing that could have happened to me! I passed my goal weight and gained so much confidence, that feeling alone is priceless.

My Final results:
Starting Weight: 185.8 lbs.
Ending Weight: 149.5 lbs.
Lost: 38.49 lbs. of fat
Gained: 2.19 lbs. of muscle
Starting Body Fat: 30.13%
Ending Body Fat: 11.7% (Down 18.43% total)

Meet Brooke

I have struggled with my weight for many years. I have a child, and everyday that I look at her she is staring back at me. I am her superhero. What she sees me do, she will/is taking in and applying it to herself. Kids learn everything from us. How they want to be and how they don’t want to be. They either mimic us because they like it or they choose a different road cause they didn’t like it. I want my child to grow up living healthy. Liking to eat healthy and exercising regularly . . . not because she has to, but because she wants to. I want to live long and not because I am on medications to control things that would be controlled had I eaten properly and exercised. I always thought that my weight wasn’t a big deal because it had no effect on me. I had great blood pressure, cholesterol, and it didn’t seem to interfere with my day-to-day activities.

I had a wake up call in November. I had done Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping before, and lost weight (got down to 201 lbs.) and thought I was at a point where I didn’t need to workout or “be on a diet” anymore. I started eating poorly and wasn’t exercising and look where I put myself.  Within 6-months to a year I was heavier than ever before. I was at work and all of a sudden I had visual changes, I decided to check my blood pressure and it was 176/124. If you don’t know, that is extremely high. I usually run 110/60. It was crazy. I was afraid of what that could do to me, and my body. How did I let myself get to this point? And what if something bad happened . . . NO WAY do I want my kid to see me struggling to take care of myself. That day I decided things needed to change. I know that this will take a lot of hard work and dedication. Even when I want to give up I have to keep going. And yes I may have set backs, but to stay positive and know the next week will be better. I wanted to be a healthier me and now I am A HEALTHIER ME!!

I started going back to FXB routinely and that is when Javier at FXB told me about Max Muscle. I went to Max Muscle in Des Moines and talked to Joey. We talked about my goals and how much I really wanted to not only succeed, but have this be a lifestyle change. Joey set me up with meal plans and my work began. I portioned my meals and actually printed my daily food plan every day for 3 weeks so that I could write what my struggles were. So I had a journal of sorts. I wanted to know exactly what I was doing so that I could follow the plan and be successful. Week after week I lost weight, and my measurements got smaller. The challenge was from December 2013 to June 2014 and my measurements below speak for themselves. I never truly knew how bad I felt until I started feeling this good.

My Final results:
Starting Weight: 244.3 lbs.
Ending Weight: 179.9 lbs.
Lost: 65.74 lbs. of fat
Gained: 1.14 lbs. of muscle
Starting Body Fat: 42.84% body fat
Ending Body Fat: 21.66%

I have struggles day in and day out as do many people I know.  And we can all make excuses daily why to eat poorly. But those poor food choices on a daily basis will make our bodies extremely unhealthy. This is not a diet.  I have decided to eat in accordance to my goals.  I am not looking to be on a diet or be “skinny”  I want to be healthy and I have begun to learn the key point and concepts to be healthy.  This is still a work in progress but I am eager to take on the challenge.  Thank you FXB and Max Muscle.
