A Flock of Seagulls at Farrell’s
Hi, my name is Diane. I was introduced to the 10-week challenge during work this year while co-workers were discussing the program. I considered myself pretty active already, but knew I would benefit from strength training and overall toning, so I decided to join. I brought the information home and shared it with my husband (Curt) and eldest son (Casey). My secret hope was that Casey would be interested as he was not happy with how he felt and at the young age of 22 had just been told he had high blood pressure. I knew this was a commitment Casey needed to make on his own, and was happy to receive a call from him one day stating he was done feeling uncomfortable and was ready to make changes! We have a treadmill, elliptical, and rower at home, which Curt and I used religiously. Casey admits he was not as self-motivating when it comes to exercise and benefited by group classes. Curt signed-up along with us as he felt he was in a rut with his current exercise plan.
We all were anxious at first knowing that we would be changing the way we ate and trying to find the time and energy to work out almost every day. Our coaches and the staff at Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping were so supportive, knowing what we were going through and provided tips along the way. We did not feel intimidated at all and were surprised to hear the instructors going through the same struggles we were! We quickly adapted to the changes and saw the benefits of these changes not only in our fitness, but as a family as well. We eat dinner together at the table more often, and it has strengthened us as we work through each challenge. The supportive atmosphere has brought us some great friendships. Other weight loss plans we tried left us often hungry and with a feeling of sacrifice. Farrell’s meal plan makes sense and has us eating often while drinking lots of water so we do not get the feeling that we are depriving ourselves. The “fun days” help us keep on track during the week knowing that we can relax a little on the weekend.
We have built our confidence to levels we could not have imagined. Who would have thought Curt and I would be kickboxing at 53 and 48 years old! What was really neat was that the entire Farrell’s team celebrated not only our success as a family (named us the Flock of Seagulls), but everyone in our classes. In five short months, we have lost lots of pounds and many inches, and Casey no longer has high blood pressure! We are now FIT members and feel that this is part our life, not a program. Thank you to our friend Mark for introducing Farrell’s to us and for Farrell’s for making such a positive difference in all our lives!
Diane, Curt and Casey are FIT Members at our Naperville, IL Farrell’s location!
