Farrell’s Got Me in the Best Shape of My Life!

family photoI have been an active person my entire life. I was always involved in athletics in high school, and I have carried my dedication of fitness into adulthood (even as a mother). Before I started my Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping (Farrell’s) journey in January 2014, I was heavily involved in another gym. My sister had just completed her Farrell’s 10-week challenge and had amazing results. She kept bugging me to join this “Farrell’s” place and workout with her. I told her I would go talk with the manager of Farrell’s and let her know what I thought. In the back of my mind I was thinking, “I do not want to do aerobics and dance moves!” Deep down I thought my current workout regime was superior to Farrell’s and there was no way I was joining. However, the location was right next to our house and convenient with the kids, so it didn’t hurt to at least entertain the idea.

I met with Lisa Bata, who was the current manager at the C Street Farrell’s location, and let me tell you, she is one of the most motivating people I have ever met. In our discussion it became apparent she had a similar path as myself when it came to fitness, and she really helped seal the deal for me. She told me I could get into the best shape of my life with this program. And let’s be honest, I inspire to look like her when I grow up!

Coming into Farrell’s initial testing, I thought there was no way I could get in any better shape than I already was. Well, I was definitely proven wrong at my final testing. I cut my body fat percentage by three percent (down to 14%), increased my toe push-ups from 33 to 77, and lost six inches total. For someone who thought she was already in the “best shape of her life”, those are some pretty amazing stats. I was down to the same size I was in my high school days and was absolutely blown away by my before and after pictures. This program works! I dedicate a lot of my results to the instructors and coaches who helped me mentally and physically along my initial 10-week journey. Without them, I would have never hit my goals.

But, what I really want to step back and focus on is what I mentioned in the very beginning of this article. I began this journey as a 10-week participant with a one-year old at home and a full-time job. I am now a FIT member and a Farrell’s instructor with a three-year old and a six-month old. As a very busy mom with a full-time job I still manage to work in 45 minutes a day. I continue on the path to health and fitness because ultimately I am doing this for my family. Often times, it feels like life just happens to us. We feel like we have no control over our bodies, but the reality is we all do. There are always options and we can make better choices. We create our own chaotic lives and we can say yes to health and fitness. I owe it to Farrell’s for helping me truly embrace this lifestyle.

Farrell’s changed my life. I have developed new, incredible friendships. I have the confidence to share my love of fitness with other Farrell’s members as an instructor. It keeps me dedicated. It keeps me grounded. And most importantly it allows me to be the fit mother and wife that I want to be for my boys and husband. It gives me so much more than the other gym I was a member of and for that I will be forever grateful.

So, all of you busy moms and dads out there that think you just don’t have the time for something like this, stop making excuses. You have the time. I am living proof. Just make the decision to try and have faith; big accomplishments are waiting for you.

Remember, your little ones inspire to be you one day. Be the best version of yourself you can be for them, and for you. You are so worth it!
