I Thrive on Farrell’s Positive Atmosphere
As I sit here in Hawaii reminiscing on the last year of my life, I am forever grateful that Farrell’s was brought into my life. Had I taken this once in a lifetime dream trip a year ago, I may not have had the same experiences that I am having today.
A short year ago I was at my highest weight, sitting at 293 pounds, and every joint in my body was constantly aching. Making the climb to the top of Diamond Head would have been a challenge, and one that would have left me feeling exhausted the rest of the trip. But this year, I am 80 pounds lighter and my body and joints feel great! * After enjoying a day of snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, I felt empowered to make the steep trek back up the trail instead of taking the tram ride back up. Sure it was tough, and my calves were burning, but my head kept thinking about all the tough kickboxing classes I have endured and knew I could do it. Little things like this are all because I have built up the stamina from a year of training at Farrell’s. When I packed my suitcase it wasn’t even a second thought that I was going to pack a set of Farrell’s resistance bands. Completing an upper body workout in the outdoor Zen garden was just icing on the cake.
Having the physical stamina to enjoy trips like this are just a piece of the strength that I have gained in the last year. My overall health is in a much better state than before. My knowledge about food and the power it has over me has also been a huge part of my journey. I have learned how my body reacts to certain foods, but more importantly, I have learned so much about fueling my body the right way. Having a plan is what keeps me on track. I have learned what it means when they say, “we don’t plan to fail, we fail to plan”. Being intentional about my nutrition has also helped me take control of my life. The nutritional tools, advice and support that the Farrell’s community provides has been a huge part of my success.
As I wrap up my first year with Farrell’s I often think about what the next year will bring. Without a doubt I will continue my journey and Farrell’s will be a part of that journey. As my body continues to change I look forward to the new opportunities that will arise as a result of me taking control of my life. I thrive on the positive atmosphere and the community that Farrell’s offers. My journey will continue and new challenges will come my way, but with the foundation that has been built I will be able to continue living at level 10.
