Hard Work Pays Off at Farrell’s
I started a transformation journey that will change my life forever. Driving to work one morning I heard a radio promo for Farrell’s summer challenge. I decided to check it out and researched their website and also watched YouTube workouts. I looked at transformations and read their inspiring stories and told my wife I wanted to commit to this program. She was a bit skeptical and some of you can relate to this because every time I committed to a gym or workout program I would fail. I assured her I was going all in this time as I already knew I had to do something. I am an Army combat veteran and in the last 21 years since I left service I had not been in a gym for more than three consecutive days and can literally count on both hands the number of times I had been in a gym prior to my Farrell’s 10-week challenge. I was pushing 300 lbs. and my health was in jeopardy. I did not want to sit by and watch my golden years tick by and not be able to spend precious active time with my grandchildren and my entire family and friends. I am so glad I made that commitment and I was entirely right; this program is the best I have ever experienced.
All I can say and everyone that has experienced Farrell’s will agree is HARD WORK PAYS OFF. Never, ever give up. I crushed my goals and did it for all my why’s. Below I will share a little of my health history. If I can do this, so can you. At the start of this I had a secret goal and that was to inspire just one person during my journey. Along the way I found out that I had inspired many.
I’m so thankful for walking through those gym doors 10 weeks ago. I never missed a workout. That’s 60 workouts in 10 weeks and I truly gave my all daily. Nutrition plays a key role and I’m learning daily/weekly from everyone. Follow the complete program and I can assure you it will work. Chase your dreams and goals. Never give up.
I am healthier and am fit once again. My journey is not complete as I am going to continue Farrell’s as a FIT member. Ten weeks sets a base. I’ve made some awesome friendships and have made an awesome gym family. Even though I won the challenge, in my eyes, I had already won by walking through those doors daily and committing to the program. About 18 months ago I was wheelchair bound. I had bilateral fasciotomies in both feet. I have deep vein thrombosis amongst several other lower body ailments. Chrondo patella syndrome in both knees and degenerative joint disease in my left hip and left ankle. The VA was kind enough to give me a custom wheelchair, but I was not settling for that. If I could still take a step, I was determined to stay out of that chair as a permanent fixture or extension of my body. Today I am a KICKBOXER and doing things I was told I would never be able to do again such as walk, jump, run, etc. I’m stronger than ever even pushing the highest band colors during band days. I’m doing push-ups off my knees and my core has improved to allow me to do correct form sit ups and my posture has greatly improved. Ten weeks ago I struggled to do a push up or sit up and the run was a walk and literally almost killed me. My cardio drastically improved and I shaved four minutes off my mile in just 10 weeks. MyZone was implemented during my 10 weeks and I purchased my belt and by seeing my real time effort and numbers during a session I pushed even harder to reach my LEVEL 10 daily. My attitude and perseverance and my why’s, which are all of you and my wife, six children and six grandkids and a seventh on the way and extended families helped me every day. Most of all I committed to walking through the doors of the gym every day and to give my all, and then extras. I can’t thank some people enough at Farrell’s for the support and daily push and the encouragement to continue. The instructors, my coach and all the others. You know who you are and I am grateful for everything. Every person that I bagged with and banded with or did extras with or just spoke to have played an instrumental part in my fitness journey those 10 weeks.
It shall continue and now we will push each other to even further fitness goals during the next year of my commitment as a FIT member. I have a long way to go yet on my journey and have set new goals for the next 10-week session. A special thank you to owners Angie and Ryan Gurwell for giving us an awesome environment and gym to work out in, and believe me, the words of encouragement are so much appreciated. I’ve worked through some injuries and tons of pain and still never missed a day. I modified an exercise when needed, but at no time have I ever given up. Commit and find your why’s. Set realistic goals and reward yourself because you are worth it. In the coming year I am setting a few long-term goals and one of them will be once I reach my goal weight, I plan to pay it forward and give that wheelchair back to VA for a wounded warrior. Living life at LEVEL 10 daily.
