Farrell’s Was The Change I Needed!
I needed a change. I was over 250 pounds, and I had no energy, no motivation, and trouble sleeping. My diet consisted of a copious amount of energy drinks (sugar!) and whatever else I could find to try and make me feel better. Nothing worked. I was extremely fatigued, I had trouble breathing, and I did not like myself. In an effort to hide my appearance, I wore massively huge clothes. I didn’t have the stamina to play with my 10-year-old son. I knew I needed a change, but lacked the willingness and energy to do anything about it. It was a vicious circle of self-loathing.
Thankfully, my coworker decided HE needed to join Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping and convinced me to join as well. He sold me on the idea that it might be fun. Our job was somewhat stressful and the thought of taking out some of that stress on the kickboxing bag was appealing. I knew I needed change, but was still hesitant.
I signed up. I went. I was nervous. But something happened . . . I found a new excitement in my nerves. I realized that everyone else was starting as well, and they were no further than me, and we all wanted a transformation. The instructors and coaches shared their transformation stories and that was inspiring. I could visibly see results in them. I truly believed that if they could do it, so could I. They told us they had a plan. All I had to do was show up and follow their direction. I kept a food journal and was accountable to what I was putting in my body for the first time in my life. The hardest part was making it through the first couple of weeks. I was eating healthy constantly in all the right ways, which REALLY shocked my body. By week three, I was feeling better. Waking up early wasn’t an issue anymore; I started to feel, dare I say, healthy. From there it was simply a matter of following the direction I was given during my kickboxing and strength training classes and remaining accountable in all areas and finding my level 10, every day.
I have witnessed over a half dozen friends join Farrell’s Midtown and make transformations within their own lives. They tell me they were motivated by me, which would have been a hard sell two years ago. I am extremely grateful for the encouragement and support I have received from my Farrell’s Midtown family. Together we’re finding our Level 10 each day and motivating each other.
The results spoke for themselves. I was fortunate enough to win my 10-week challenge. I have continued to make this a lifestyle change by becoming a Farrell’s FIT member. Nearly two years later, I am at 22.4% body fat (I started at 34.7%) and hit one of my long-term goals, which was to weigh 180 pounds.* I haven’t been that weight since high school and I’m now a father over the age of 40. The metrics are the smallest part of my transformation. They are real, but only measuring sticks to remind me of where I was and where I am today.
It was a complete, but simple change. The Farrell’s way is my lifestyle. I don’t buy anything without checking the nutritional value. It’s second nature now.
It didn’t happen overnight, but the change is sustainable and I can once again be proud of who I am. No longer do I have to hide in clothes twice my size. I have energy today. I am not ashamed of my appearance. I can play with my now 12-year-old son without tiring out. Farrell’s has given me a part of my life back that I didn’t know I could ever have. Most importantly I have found happiness again. I’m truly happy! Life is a lot easier with a smile on my face and conviction in my heart.
